Flow

Ban Chiao Sports Centre, Taiwan

Standing 6 metres high, Flow, by Australian artist Dominique Sutton, is a large scale steel sculpture commissioned for a new government sports centre in Taipei.

Its reflective surface highlights the intricate woven elements, the steel in the sculpture is designed to run across the body to represent the muscles in the figure and casts dynamic shadows on the ground below.

Creative Road worked with the artist to manage client contract negotiations, budgets, scheduling and to supervise the production and delivery of this complex artwork with a Chinese based art foundry.

Martial Arts plays a very important role in the history of sport. Its ancient tradition dates back many centuries. It is a codified system of combat practices – self defense, competition, physical health and fitness, entertainment, as well as mental, physical and spiritual development. The pose I have chosen for this sculpture is uplifting and inspiring – celebrating the inner and outer strength of the body.
