Sparkling Shoal

Suvira McDonald, The Sheraton Resort Denarau Island, Fiji

Sparkling Shoal, created by Northern NSW artist Suvira McDonald, is an installation of ten stainless steel basket form sculptures, commissioned in collaboration with Joseph Pang Design Consultants for the US$22m refurbished Sheraton Resort Denarau Island Fiji.

The artworks are suspended above two still water features within the resort’s main entrance and lobby. Fabricated at the artist’s regional NSW studio, the sculptures were sea freighted to Fiji and installed by the artist on site.

The artworks you supplied look fantastic. I have to write to you to thank you for the great effort to organise these pieces. The hotel was finally opened on Saturday morning and in no time the artworks have become focal points that have drawn much attention. A big thank you to you and the artist. I look forward to future opportunities to work with you again… Joseph Pang
