Burwood Cultural Centre
PROJECT: Burwood Cultural Centre Public Art Plan
CLIENT: Burwood Council
LOCATION: Burwood, NSW
The Public Art Plan provides a curatorial framework for commissioning a series of artworks— small and large—that speak to Burwood’s diverse communities within a major new civic landmark. Centring the voices of Western Sydney artists, the plan emphasises opportunities for local practitioners to contribute works that reflect lived experience, cultural narratives, and civic ambition. Developed in collaboration with Burwood Council, Chrofi, and community stakeholders, it outlines curatorial themes, siting opportunities, and delivery pathways tailored to the building’s architecture and public interfaces. CREATIVE ROAD shaped an intercultural and place-specific approach, balancing design integration with cultural relevance. The outcome positions public art as central to the centre’s identity, strengthening community connection and embedding Western Sydney creativity within civic life.
